HarborField Sourcing quote and scope review

HarborField Sourcing is an independent sourcing service. The search phrase is how a buyer arrived. The work on this page is to make two or more factory replies comparable. The desk does not claim authorized dealer status and does not offer the original brand.

Start from the purchase boundary. A shell price, a delivered price, an installed price, and a turnkey price answer different questions. Freight, taxes, foundation, utilities, and site work need their own lines so a short number is not compared with a long one.

  • Design loads and jurisdiction
  • Quantity and destination
  • Shell, delivered, installed, or turnkey
  • Drawings and calculations to request
Engineer comparing a module section drawing with a quote sheet

Same building, two scope columns

Read across the row. The left column is a shell or kit conversation. The right column is a turnkey conversation. Neither column is a price, and neither column means a named supplier has accepted the scope. If a reply assumes 115 mph wind and 20 psf snow, write those assumptions beside the number.

Line the brief must name Shell or kit Turnkey scope
Primary frame and envelope Ask for the primary frame, secondary framing, purlin, girt, roof, and wall package that the number includes. Ask which of those layers stay in the supplier number and which move to a local trade.
Foundation interface Usually outside the shell number. The buyer still needs the reaction and anchor assumptions. State whether design, excavation, slab, or piers are inside the quoted scope.
Transport envelope Confirm module dimensions on the truck and who pays permits for the haul. Add the destination, the crane lift plan, and the party that unloads.
Installation Setting, stitching, and sealant may be excluded. Write that exclusion in the comparison sheet. Name the crew, the weather hold points, and the definition of substantial completion.
Utilities Often a rough-in only, or absent. Do not assume HVAC, plumbing, or electrical gear. List equipment, terminations, and testing. Separate utility company fees.
Jurisdiction files Drawings may be generic. Ask which edition of the code path the supplier used as an assumption. Ask who seals calculations for the site and who submits them to the authority having jurisdiction.

IBC, IRC, HUD Code, ASCE 7, AISC 360, AWS D1.1, IAS AC472, and ISO 9001 are documents a buyer may request for the quoted system. HarborField Sourcing does not claim those credentials for itself or for an unnamed plant.

What the desk coordinates

One blank for every supplier

The same use, footprint, eave height, bay spacing, clear span, quantity, destination, and requested timing go to each factory. Optional budget notes stay in the buyer currency and say whether the figure is per module or for the whole order.

Exclusions in a separate column

Tax, duty, freight, crane time, foundation, and permits are marked included, excluded, optional, or awaiting confirmation. A blank cell is not treated as included.

Supplier preference is not a rating

Premium, mid-range, budget, or undecided is a buyer note about finish level and coordination effort. It is not a verified score, and a live quotation is not required before the note is sent.

Handoff stays with the buyer

The buyer and the project professionals the buyer hires keep the technical decision, the contract, and the acceptance of substitutions. The desk organizes questions and files.

Questions that change the comparison

Which costs have to be split out?

Split freight, taxes, duties, foundation, utilities, installation, and optional finishes from the building package. A shell figure and a turnkey figure can both be honest and still be unfit for a single ranking.

What if the plant answers with a standard layout?

Keep the standard layout only when the published module dimensions, openings, and design loads match the site. If the clear span or the wind speed does not fit, mark the reply as a different product.

Who confirms code compliance?

Not this desk. Compliance depends on the project location, the code edition, and the sealed documents for the system being purchased. Missing site data means the compliance question stays open.

Where do the inquiry cards fit?

Cards on the product index are names a buyer can attach to the form. They do not reserve a unit. After the scope columns are filled, use the contact form to send one brief.

Ask for quotations on one written scope

Send the use, the dimensions, the loads you already know, the jurisdiction, the quantity, and the destination. HarborField Sourcing will use that packet to request factory quotations for alternative buildings.
